The Oklahoma Public Employees Association, (OPEA) announced their endorsement of Jared Deck of Thomas. Deck is a candidate for the Oklahoma House of Representatives District 57.
OPEA Executive Director Sterling Zearley complimented Deck on his knowledge and commitment to state employees. “Jared understands the importance of quality state services provided by a quality workforce made up of committed state employees,” he said. “His understanding of the Veterans Center and the services state employees provide to our states veterans and his commitment to quality roads and bridges provided by the dedicated employees in the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will be a critical component to making Western Oklahoma a better place for families to live and businesses to grow.”
Jared Deck is a life-long District 57 resident and a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Raised in a small business and family farm, Deck has a myriad of work experience in industries including agriculture, oil & gas, manufacturing, and small independent business ownership.
“State employees throughout District 57 are happy to have Jared on the ticket and look forward to working with him in moving District 57 and Oklahoma forward,” concluded Zearley.

Wednesday night, the First Christian Church of Custer City held a Baked Potato Supper to support youth attending summer church camp. In the silent auction, Jared Deck won a homemade pecan pie. In another auction, he was narrowly defeated for the cinnamon rolls. A great time was had by all and a good amount of money was raised for the kids.

Jared spoke for a second time to the Canadian County Democrats Tuesday night. He spoke of the experiences that led him to run for State House of Representatives, such as the recent outsourcing of jobs to Mexico. With a theme of "work conquers all," Deck made his case for a run for the House as a servant & worker for Western Oklahoma.

Tuesday, Jared Deck attended the Weatherford Kiwanis Luncheon. Jared was introduced by Dr. Terry Segress and Mr. Tony Price. A presentation was given by Mr. Bud Lamke, Weatherford Band Director, about the status of the band program and the importance of music and the arts in education.

The Thomas Summer Recreation Association held a "Raise The Lights" Fundraiser at the Baseball/Softball Complex on Saturday. Jared Deck and other attendees enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs as up to four games were played at one time. The fundraiser is part of a long-term commitment to raise $185,000 for new lights over each of the new fields.

Multi-County Youth Services held a "Thank You" Reception at White Dog Hill last Thursday to celebrate the opening of the Youth Shelter. Presenting were Rep. James Covey, Rep. Ryan McMullen, and Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins. Jared Deck was recognized as a candidate for state House who has pledged to raise $1200 for the Shelter.

A beautiful evening and good company made for a wonderful picnic Saturday at Centennial Park in Custer City. There were games for all ages, good food, and a little music for entertainment. To top the evening off, Coke floats were served in commemorative cups.
Centennial Park is a community project of Custer City, celebrating its history and future, its veterans and youth.

Fried onion burgers all around at this year's "Burger Day" in El Reno. Jared Deck and family enjoyed watching local music, the making of the biggest burger in Western Oklahoma (at least!), and of course the great food!
Three generations of Jared's family have lived in Canadian County. Grandparents Glen & Claudina Franklin, mother Pam (Franklin) Deck, and sister Lyndsey (Deck) Ransford. Glen was a career railroad engineer for Rock Island.

On Friday, Jared spoke with the Custer City Senior Citizens group about his vision for the future of District 57 and Custer City. Topics included use of the Custer City school facility, preservation of the family farm, and responsible spending at the Capitol. "I would be honored to serve as a Representative for you and the future of the small towns we have built together."

Thomas-Fay-Custer City Pre-K celebrated the annual Week of The Young Child April 14-18. Jared Deck, candidate for State House of Representatives, read the book From Head to Toe by Eric Carle to approximately 38 students on Wednesday. "I can do it!" is the confidence building theme of the popular 1997 book.
T-F-C Pre-K is a DHS-Certified educational program open to enrollment for three- and four-year old children living within the school district.

Jared Deck attended the Thomas Senior Citizens luncheon on Thursday, April 10. Jared spoke humbly of being raised not only by a good family, but by a community of faithful citizens, church members, teachers, and community leaders. "I am proud to be firmly rooted in the Western Oklahoma values I learned from this community."

On Tuesday, April 8, Jared Deck spoke to Canadian County Democrats at Canadian County Vocational-Technical Center. Jared said he will be a Representative from Western Oklahoma who will fight for rural citizens at the Capitol. He addressed the need for infrastructure improvements and promotion in private enterprise, conserving natural resources for the future of family farming, and prioritization of state budget spending. "We must responsibly invest in our communities and the education of our children."

Jared Deck met with the Custer County Wheathearts group on Tuesday, April 8. He spoke briefly on the importance of soil and water conservation efforts and on the necessity of maintaining local control of schools and services such as fire & police departments.

Rick Dahlgren is hosting a fundraiser for the campaign on Tuesday, March 11, at 6pm. The event will be held at The Cup, 103 W. Main, in Weatherford. Gumbo will be served at the reception, so be ready to eat!
Host level contribution for the fundraiser is $350. Sponsor level is $200. A minimun suggested donation is asked of $25.

“Our community needs to continue developing a greater infrastructure for economic growth, persistent conservation efforts, better access to medical care, and a commitment to education. With common sense, compassion, and a pragmatic sensibility, I will advocate for all citizens of District 57 and raise the bar for the future of Western Oklahoma,” said Deck in reference to issues that are of primary importance to the area.
Deck says, “There is tremendous growth in our district. We must work to sustain this by reinforcing our infrastructure and building a diverse economy. From roads and bridges to fire, health, and educational services, District 57 must be the leader in Western Oklahoma.”
Deck’s civic involvement has included appointee to the Oklahoma State Youth Suicide Prevention Council, volunteer for Teenline Oklahoma - a call program sponsored by Department of Mental Health SAS, and Youth & Family Services Mentor in Canadian, Blaine, and Major counties. He currently serves as chair of Custer County Democrats.
Deck currently serves as a music minister at Bethany Baptist Church and also as a private music instructor.
